Miami Dolphins' star wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, has officially concluded his season after undergoing significant surgery on Tuesday. The procedure addressed a severe knee dislocation and multiple ligament tears sustained during the team's 27-21 victory against the Jets on Monday Night Football. According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who spoke to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the extensive damage was successfully repaired in a single operation, with the primary objective being Hill's full recovery and readiness for the start of the next NFL season.

Prior to his operation on Tuesday, Hill shared a heartfelt video message from his hospital bed, thanking fans for their overwhelming support. He expressed gratitude, stating, "I'm about to go in for this surgery, keep ya boy in your prayers. You guys have been awesome, 'Fins nation, just the whole entire NFL have been amazing, sending me lots of love, lots of prayers. I'm absolutely honored, granted the situation," as he gestured towards his injured leg. He concluded, "but I love you guys so much and hope to see you soon," conveying his appreciation despite the challenging circumstances.
Drew Rosenhaus revealed a personal anecdote, mentioning that he accompanied Hill in the ambulance to the hospital during the second half of the game – a first in his career as an agent. He recounted his immediate concerns in an interview with WSVN in Miami post-game, stating, "Are there any torn ligaments, is there torn cartilage, are there any broken bones, to check on the blood flow, any, god forbid, nerve damage?" He added, "All of this is getting checked out. We don't know the extent of the injury. Doctors have told me he dislocated his knee, which I think was apparent for everyone who watched the horrific play. But what that means, and the extent of the damage, and whether he'll need surgery, to what extent, all of that we should find out within the next couple hours." This highlighted the initial uncertainty and severity of Hill's condition.
The incident occurred early in the third quarter after Hill secured a first-down reception. His leg twisted unnaturally on the sideline turf, causing him to immediately collapse in obvious pain. Footage captured the moment he signaled for medical aid. Dolphins' medical staff swiftly applied an air cast to his leg, and despite the severity, the former All-Pro managed a wave and a smile to the fans as he was carefully carted off the field to the locker room.
Following the game, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Hill was undergoing extensive medical evaluations. McDaniel praised Hill's incredible resilience, noting, "He was probably in the best spirits of any player that I've ever seen [have] such a terrible experience." He further revealed Hill's immediate focus on the team's success, saying, "He immediately had wide eyes and was talking, 'I'm good, just make sure the guys get this win.' He was focused on the team."
This abrupt end marks Hill's fourth season with the Dolphins, concluding with 21 receptions for 265 yards and a single touchdown.
The loss of Hill presents a significant challenge for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who now must navigate the season without his primary deep threat. This comes at a particularly difficult time, as the Dolphins had just shown a renewed sense of confidence during their crucial Monday night victory, their first of the season.
However, there's a silver lining with tight end Darren Waller stepping up, who impressively secured two touchdowns in his initial start of the season. Waller expressed confidence in his teammates, stating, "I feel like there will be a lot of guys in the receiver room that will have more opportunities to make plays. I have faith in them, especially from what I've seen over camp and the first few weeks." He acknowledged Hill's irreplaceable talent but emphasized the team's resolve: "Football is a game and a business where you got to move forward. There is no replacing [Hill], but I feel like we got guys that can get the job done."
