The global box office saw a diverse range of films dominating the weekend, with anime, horror, and period drama all making significant marks. Leading the charge was Sony and Crunchyroll's *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle*, which achieved a phenomenal $132.1 million global opening weekend, setting a new record for the highest-grossing anime opening of all time. North America contributed a substantial $70 million to this impressive total, with strong performances in Latin America ($29 million), Europe ($17.4 million), and other key territories. This success builds upon the phenomenal performance of *Demon Slayer: Mugen Train* in 2021, solidifying the anime genre's growing global appeal. The film achieved record-breaking numbers in numerous markets, including multiple Latin American countries, the UK, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and India, where it secured the biggest opening weekend for any anime or animation film. While figures from Japan are still pending, its already impressive domestic box office performance puts the film's worldwide total well above $400 million. Strong performances in Asia, particularly Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, further solidified its global dominance. Future releases in French- and German-speaking markets are anticipated to boost the film's numbers further.

Meanwhile, New Line/Warner Bros.' *The Conjuring: Last Rites* continued its strong performance with a $60.5 million addition from 76 international markets in its second weekend, pushing its international cumulative gross past $200 million. The film's global total now stands at $332.9 million, driven by impressive results in Latin America, where it became the highest-grossing horror film in several countries, and Asia, where it repeated its number one ranking in key markets. Japan is still awaiting its release on October 17.

Finally, Universal/Focus' *Downton Abbey: A New Era* concluded its cinematic run with a respectable international launch grossing $12.3 million across 31 markets. The film exceeded the opening weekend performance of its predecessor, *Downton Abbey: A New Era*, and showed a similar trajectory to *Ticket to Paradise* at the same point in its release. The UK stood out as the film's strongest performer, while other markets, such as France, Australia, the Netherlands, and Italy, also delivered positive results, further demonstrating the enduring appeal of the beloved franchise.
