Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Netflix's hit series *Stranger Things*, is in final negotiations to portray Olympic gymnastics legend Kerri Strug in the upcoming Netflix film, *Perfect*. This biopic, directed by Gia Coppola (granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola), will chronicle the remarkable story of the 1996 US women's gymnastics team, known as the Magnificent Seven, and their historic gold medal win at the Atlanta Olympics.
The film, scripted by Ronnie Sandahl, will focus on the team's journey, culminating in Strug's iconic vault performance, where she landed on an injured ankle to secure the gold. This pivotal moment, captured in the enduring image of coach Béla Károlyi carrying Strug to the podium, cemented its place in Olympic history. The team also included notable gymnasts Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Dominique Dawes, Amy Chow, Jaycie Phelps, and captain Amanda Borden.
Brown's involvement extends beyond acting; she's also slated to join the film's production team. Netflix is aiming for a 2026 release date, with Nik Bower (Riverstone Pictures) and Thomas Benski (Magna Studios) producing, and 30West serving as executive producer.
This project marks another collaboration between Brown and Netflix, adding to her impressive filmography which includes the *Enola Holmes* franchise, *Damsel*, and *The Electric State*. Brown's star power, coupled with Coppola's directorial vision, promises a compelling and emotional portrayal of one of the most memorable moments in Olympic history. The final season of *Stranger Things* is slated for release later this year, in three parts.
